"There are only 3 things that are permanent in life:
"DEATH, TAXES & ELECTROLYSIS"

Electrolysis attacks the hair follicle from the inside destroying the cells
responsible for hair growth while protecting the skin's surface.

PLEASE NOTE::  A chin with “peach fuzz” or vellus hairs is                                                                                                        totally different than a case with very coarse, deep, terminal hairs.

The total number of sessions needed to remove hair permanently from a particular area will vary from person to person. Most clients return once a week or every other week in the beginning.  The unwanted hair will be gone forever once the series of treatments have been completed.  Each treatment is usually between 15 minutes to one hour.

Terminal hairs begin as peach fuzz and develop into terminal hairs as we age.  Terminal hairs are long, thick, pigmented hairs that can turn gray or white as we age.  Terminal hairs are stronger than other types of hair. The terminal hair follicles are deep in the base of the skin and closer to the blood vessel and can absorb the nutrition and oxygen easier.  These hairs cannot be removed permanently by temporary methods such as tweezing or waxing but can only be permanently removed by destroying the papilla and cutting off the nutrition to the hair follicle.  As people reach late middle age, more terminal hairs appear on our cheeks, lip, chin, nose, neck & ears.

In contrast, vellus hair is fine and lightly colored and this hair type covers the majority of the body.  The Papilla is at the base of each hair follicle and contains the blood and nerves of the hair and provides nutrients for hair growth.  It is the "mother of the hair". Androgen is a male sex hormone that promotes the development and maintenance of the male sex characteristics.

Hair growth is the result of heredity and hormonal levels.  Also, some drugs, temporary methods of hair removal (tweezing, waxing, threading, etc.) and some illnesses can stimulate hair growth.

When unwanted hair is in the wrong part of your body - you may want to consider Electrolysis.

Electrolysis works by using state of the art technology.  A small amount of high frequency current is applied to the base of the hair follicle destroying the hair growth tissue.  This process eliminates the hair's ability to regenerate another hair and creates permanent hair removal.

IS IT PAINFUL?   It can be, but only if administered incorrectly.  It can be very comfortable if performed in the right way. My Apilus XCell electrolysis machine offers many options & modes for comfort.  We want you to be as comfortable as possible.

For maximum comfort - Before your session - be sure to hydrate (drink water - avoid soda or carbonated drinks), avoid caffeine, and for the very sensitive client - take a painkiller or apply a topical anesthetic (lidocaine, etc.) before your appointment - you should be very comfortable.

Electrolysis is a time tested method that was invented more than 143 years ago.  It is the only FDA approved PERMANENT hair removal method.

It is safe for men, women and teens and suitable for all skin and hair types.

Most areas of the body can be treated with Electrolysis, including the eyebrows, face, neck, ears. thighs, abdomen, breasts and legs.

Much like having braces on your teeth, put your time in, get it done right the first time, and benefit the rest of your life. The best investment you can make is in yourself. The confidence that you gain through getting rid of unwanted hair is immeasurable.

Facial hair cycle stages are approximately 2 weeks or more.
Anagen - active growth stage
Catagen - resting stage
Telogen - release stage and cycle begins again. Most facial hair takes 6-8 weeks from Anagen to Telogen.

Between Appointments with The Best Electrolysis

PLEASE NOTE:  Between appointments, I encourage all of my clients to shave, trim or use a cream hair remover on the unwanted hair.  I want you to be as confident with your appearance as possible between appointments and none of the following methods will affect your unwanted hairs in a negative way.

Shaving - be sure to wet shave as this method does not irritate your skin as much as a dry shave.  Shaving and trimming can make your hair feel thicker because you are cutting the hair off at the thickest part of the hair shaft.

Trimming (with cuticle scissors - the curved tip does not cut the skin). (see below image)

Cream hair removers.  Apply according to your needs - most of my clients use a cream hair remover every 6-8 weeks for a temporary "hairless face".    This is an excellent way to temporarily control the fine vellus hairs on your face.  Cream hair removers generally do not work on thick or coarse hairs - these hairs most likely will need to be removed by Electrolysis.

(I highly recommend Andrea Gentle Cream Hair Remover for the Face as the most gentle product I have found at this time).  There is no need for me to remove these fine hairs unless you want me to do so.  Don't forget that there are over 3,000 hairs - per square inch - on our face.  Spend your time and money wisely and eliminate the coarser, thicker, troublesome hairs first.

Feel free to call or text me if you have any questions regarding this information.

I will need a little less than 1/16th of an inch of growth to effectively remove your unwanted hairs in your Electrolysis appointment.  Plan your appointments according to how long it will take for you to grow this amount of hair.

Waxing, threading, and plucking ultimately inspires ingrown and coarser hairs as you are damaging the hair follicle rather than destroying it as in Epilation (Electrolysis).  Unfortunately, despite the time, money, and energy put into these routines, it is not permanent.  If you're looking for a solution that could rid you of unwanted hair forever, you should consider Electrolysis.

Other hair removal methods may appear to be less expensive or more convenient, but these advantages fade quickly when you consider the need for long-term use and lifetime maintenance. (see charts below)

Note: This time frame would apply only to the most extreme Grade 4 (above).  Appointments will tend to be longer and more frequent in the beginning -  and then become shorter and farther apart after a few months of regular appointments

DO I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT PIGMENTATION WITH MY ELECTROLYSIS TREATMENT?

THE BELOW VIDEO ANSWERS WHY PIGMENTATION CAN HAPPEN, ON WHAT SKIN TYPES or SKIN COLORS ,  and HOW TO TREAT YOUR SKIN.

This rarely happens to my clients  - but when it does - it can be a concern for obvious reasons.  You might feel that you are trading your hair problem for a skin problem.

IF YOU HAVE BROWN EYES, TYPE 3 OR HIGHER SKIN TONE  (olive or darker skin)  AND DARK HAIR -  there is a chance that you might get some slight pigmentation. NOTE:  most pigmentation, at its worst, is tiny brown spots that gradually fade with time. It is called Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation or PIH.

CLIENTS THAT TEND TO PIGMENT MAY PREFER USING THE GALVANIC BLEND ELECTROLYSIS METHOD.  THERE IS A VERY, VERY LOW AMOUNT OF HEAT USED IN THIS METHOD AND ABSOLUTELY NO PIGMENTATION WILL OCCUR.

The most important thing to know is that the PIH IS A TEMPORARY PROBLEM AND IT WILL DEFINITELY and ABSOLUTELY GO AWAY.
